Part-time (0.6 FTE)
To Start 01 / 09 /2013 (or as soon as possible after that)

We are looking to recruit a second Reading Recovery Teacher to deliver our Every Child A Reader programme. This is a highly structured 1:1 intervention for children in KS1 who have not taken off with reading.

We launched E.C.A.R at Walter Halls a year ago, and it has been very effective. We already have one E.C.A.R. teacher and we want to build the team. All Teaching Assistants and Teachers have also been trained in the associated “Switch-On” programme.

The successful candidate will have at least three years experience of successful primary teaching, preferably in KS1 or Early Years. You will be a good communicator, will demonstrate adaptability and problem solving skills, will show a willingness to learn, acquire and apply new skills and knowledge and demonstrate good interpersonal skills with colleagues. Above all, you will be passionate about the teaching of reading.

If you are not already a qualified and accredited E.C.A.R. Teacher, you will have access to a thorough and comprehensive training, induction and support programme which will lead to full accreditation.

Walter Halls is privileged to serve a socially diverse and multi-cultural community. Our last OFSTED (October 2011) graded our school as Good overall with five Outstanding features.

Visits to the school are welcomed by prior arrangement with the Head Teacher. Further details and an application form may be obtained from the school.

Closing date for applications: noon - Friday 7 June

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
